I've gone and done it now...

I signed myself up for an horseback riding evaluation.

Yes I've ridden for close to 20 years. Yes I've owned a horse for 15, going on 16, of those years.

But, I miss riding. I love my walks with Buttercup. I love grooming her and just spending time with her, in fact I feel like my relationship with her is happier now (she actually meets me at the gate!)

But, I miss that time in the saddle. The view between two pricked ears. And, I have come to realize I have developed some issues with my riding. My heels pop up from time to time and my sense of balance isn't what it used to be.

I've taken a couple of hard falls. I'm not as confident as I used to be, I used to hop on any horse at anytime. Now, I find myself pining to ride Buttercup. I KNOW her- her stride, her tendencies. Mounting any other horse causes me to pause and think "what if?"

I want my riding mojo back.

Getting an independent evaluation might be just the ticket!

So, next Thursday I'll be pulling down the stirrups on a English saddle and mounting a lesson horse. My first lesson in 15 years...

Wish me luck!

Yay! I'll be starting refresher lessons with Denise from Less Is More in a couple weeks myself. I need to get my mojo back too.
